5 Tips for Investing in a New CRM

I want to share 5 crucial reasons why every organization needs a CRM (customer relationship management) tool. If you're toying with the idea of purchasing a CRM and you're not exactly sure if you should, I want to share why it's a must-do TODAY.

#1: The most important thing about donor relations is the need to quickly see the who, what, when, where, why and how your donors are interacting with your organization (historically and in real time).

It’s incredibly beneficial to know why they're passionate about your organization and the best way to capture that is in a CRM system. We all know the fundraisers who remember all donor interactions in their mind, but what happens if/when they leave your organization?

Will you be prepared to pick up where they left off with those donors if you don’t know anything about their interests and preferences? If that doesn't sell you in and of itself, here are some other great reasons.

#2: Collecting information (aka data) about your supporters’ donation habits, engagement history, and level of interest is going to help you make more informed decisions

You don't have to go off your gut instinct alone - combine your instincts with hard data and you’ll be way more prepared to make informed decisions that will drive your organization forward.

#3: Improve efficiencies. We're all wearing five hats these days and it can be incredibly overwhelming to get everything done. Nonprofits know this better than any other industry! Implementing some tech tools is certainly going to help your staff increase their efficiency and give them more time to do the things them love, like engaging donors

#4: Keep donor data secure. We have all heard about many data security breaches. You do not want to be the one organization sending a letter to your donors saying “Sorry your information was compromised.”

Investing in a quality CRM that's going to keep your donor information in one place and capturing data in a secure manner is going to give you confidence and your donors confidence when they're giving your organization those amazing gifts.

#5: Investing in a great CRM will allow you to scale your database as your organization grows. You want something that has the capacity to scale at appropriate intervals and not just keep you tied to Excel spreadsheets that you're scrambling to try to pull together every time you host an event or send out an appeal.

If you would like to learn more about how you can move forward with a database that’s right for your organization, let's chat.  I have lots of great information and tools I can share with you and get you on the right path.
